Zantac is an H2-receptor blocker used in the treatment of a number of conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome arising when the body produces too much acid in the stomach. It limits the amount of histamine in the stomach which, in turn, determines the volume of acid produced This makes Zantac effective in reducing heartburn and the irritation caused in the esophagus if acid rises from the stomach. It also treats ulcers in the stomach and small intestine that have not responded to other treatments. It may be used to treat such other conditions as your physician thinks appropriate. |
