Reglan is used to relieve the symptoms caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) where other treatments have proved ineffective. It works by increasing the speed with which the digestive system processes food and increases the strength of the sphincter separating the esophagus from the stomach, thereby preventing the leakage of stomach acid into the esophagus.
