The following medications may affect the way that terazosin works or may increase the risk of side effects:
Blood pressure: The first few doses of terazosin can cause extreme lowering of blood pressure, especially when moving from lying or sitting to a standing position. Sometimes even loss of consciousness can occur.
Terazosin is in a group of drugs called alpha-adrenergic blockers. Terazosin causes the blood vessels (veins and arteries) to relax and expand, improving blood flow. Terazosin also relaxes muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate.
Terazosin is used alone or in combination with other drugs to treat high blood pressure. It works by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.
