Avandia is used in the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes in conjunction with diet and exercise either on its own or paired with other antidiabetic drugs. Avandia is one of the Thiazolidinedione drugs used to control diabetes. Some patients react adversely. It may cause or worsen heart conditions. Before you begin treatment, discuss your medical history with your physician. You should not take this drug if you have moderate to severe heart problems. When you start taking this drug, your physician will monitor how you react as the dosage increases. You must seek immediate advice if your hands, ankles or feet begin to swell; you have breathing difficulties; or your weight unexpectedly increases.
