Aciphex is used to treat acid indigestion, heartburn or more serious cases of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) where the esophagus is damaged by stomach acid. Both on its own and in combination with antibiotics, it is also used to treat ulcers in the small intestine and/or reduce the risk that ulcers will return. Because it limits the production of acid, physicians prescribe it to treat Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other related conditions.
